Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Mission: To instill a greater sense of health, well being, and independence in each patient that we care for through a combined effort of safe and scientifically proven methods of exercise as a well as a balanced meaningful education program.

Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation offers individual outpatient care to those with heart and lung disease. These programs consist of exercise, education, counseling and behavioral interventions.

Cardiac Rehab is for patients who have recently had a cardiac event or surgery such as a heart attack, CABG (coronary artery bypass graft), angioplasty/stent, heart valve repair or replacement, stable angina, heart transplant and CHF (congestive heart failure).

Pulmonary Rehabilitation is designed for patients who have COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), emphysema, chronic bronchitis, sarcoidosis, pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary fibrosis, interstitial lung disease, lung cancer and lung transplants.

Both of these programs require a prescription from your physician.

You will be supervised by Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologists who create an exercise and educational program that focuses on scientifically researched methods. These methods have been adopted by the American College of Sports Medicine, American Heart Association and American Association for Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehab. Cardiac patients will have electrocardiogram monitoring, blood pressure, heart rate and levels of exertion measured constantly. Pulmonary patients will have oxygen saturation, heart rate, blood pressure and levels of exertion monitored as well. The exercise sessions are one-hour long and include aerobic and resistance exercises designed to increase fitness and functional capacity in an aggressive but safe manner. You will be challenged in a fun way and make new friends while accomplishing your new goals of a healthy life!

Our classes are small and personable and promote a large support network of your family, Clinical Exercise Physiologists, Dieticians, Pharmacists, your Primary Care Physician, your Cardiologist/Pulmonologist, and your fellow class members. We strive to help you feel better, gaining the freedom of physical and psychological independence.

We hope that we can be a part of your journey towards a healthier lifestyle.
